EYEWASH/EMERGENCY WASH/SALINE RECALLED

H.L. Bouton Co. is voluntarily recalling its year 2000 production run of eyewash, emergency eye/face/body wash, eyewash concentrate and normal saline, an estimated 1,000 gallons, due to concerns about safety and sterility. About 15 percent of the washes, marketed under the Lavoptik, Zee Medical and Rapid Clear labels, may contain B. cepacia, a drug-resistant bacteria registered as a microbial pesticide with EPA. The bacteria is associated with serious lung infections in cystic fibrosis patients.
